Like, Stop It

The use of ‘like’ has been declared an epidemic and a threat to the future of the language. Federal, state, and local governments have begun to debate alternatives to combat language degradation, beyond the removal of twitter posts by the outgoing gang of language degraders.

The initiatives are already drawing criticism and push back, primarily from right-wing groups who see the effort to restrict their incorrect, gratuitous use of a specific word as constitutionally unacceptable.

“It’s like making us put, like, a mask on our brains, like,” a view simultaneously expressed by QAnon, the entire senate Republican caucus, and all of TrumPutin’s children.

Abner Abner, a GOP state legislator from any red state, immediately tweeted, “This is socialism at its worst, like, yeah, it’s socialism that’s, like, un-American, and not, like, socialism, that, like, gives billions to corporate agriculturalists.”

A senator from Texas, either idiot,  immediately announced he would hold senate hearings. “The Democrats are fixated on impeachment by, like, not re-electing our king, and they want, like, socialistic socialism, but they, like, totally ignore the legitimiciality of, like, like.” He stopped pounding the table only for a second before adding, “It is, like, so bad to stop, like, using a word like, like, like. That is socialism, to stop using words just because they, like, don’t mean anything. Like ‘conservative,’ or, like, ‘intelligent Republican,’ or, like, so, yeah.”

And then Abner Abner and the senator from South Carolina went golfing with the lame duck who won’t, like, shut up and, like, go away. So, yeah …

Shut Up, Mitch

So Moscow Mitch is crying now that Obama left TrumPutin nothing to help with pandemics. Oh, really?!

A 69-page plan for dealing with pandemics isn't enough? Or was Obama supposed to read it to the Big Orange, when the Big Orange wasn't butt-deep in Fox News? And an agency fully funded and working to deal with pandemics, which TrumPutin dismantled, de-funded, and forgot about.

And Mitch's apology that he made a mistake. Why ?Not because he knew it was a lie when he said it, and said it anyway to curry favor with the imbecile he shills for? But only because he was called on it.

Moscow Mitch never does anything scrupulous, or honest, and only apologizes after the initial accusation has been thoroughly digested by the cretins that make up the base.

Obama left a Supreme Court nomination with Mitch, for eleven months, and Comrade Mitch didn't deign to bring the nomination to a vote, and didn't find his stalling, or the support of his fellow GOP senators to stall, offensive. But he finds the work of Speaker Pelosi too partisan for his fragile psyche, and the Obamagate drivel from his leader not partisan enough.

So, Mitch, shut up and go make America whatever -- you have until January.

Mr. Pence Speaks

Sometimes, it is said, wisdom comes from the mouths of babes. Other times, well ... . So, when the leader of the White House Task Force on Coronavirus was asked about the need for more testing, we heard thusly:

Thank you for that important question. And I would like to say, before I say anything else, that the universal testing which the country now enjoys is only possible because of the leadership of the president.

So, some governors say that we need universal testing, and we in the White House completely agree. In fact, that is why we put universal testing into place. Some governors might say, would say, probably, that they do not have universal testing in their states. But we would say, first, that they do have universal testing, and, second, how do they know that they do not.

If we count all the people that will be found to be negative for the Coronavirus, when and if we ever test them, and add them to the number of persons overall, we would find that those who are negative don't have to be tested. So, assuming that most people living are not positive to the extent that they can breathe and do not need to be hospitalized, I think that we have pretty near universal testing. Sí o no!

And then, of course, there are the other sides of testing. Like, stopping immigration, which means we have effectively tested those we are not letting into the country, by not having to test them. And removing regulations, which means that testing isn't necessary for those people who succumb to poisons, crappy air, oil spills, or unsafe work spaces. Another win.

And, of course, ratings for the 5 o'clock follies, which is the severest test for the nation.

Make America whatever, y'all. And bring a gun.

Worse than the Disease

As usual whenever he speaks, TrumPutin lies and he is wrong, this time when he says the cure is worse than the disease. However, there are other things that are worse than the Coronavirus:

The White House initial response, particularly the opinion by epidemiologist TrumPutin that the Coronavirus was a flu -- definitely worse than the virus;

The revised response, stating that the Coronavirus was not, after all, simply a flu, but that TrumPutin knew it was serious, and knew it to be a pandemic far earlier than anyone else -- such nonsense is worse than the disease;

The daily briefings that substitute for the mindless rallies that TrumPutin is used to having -- absolutely worse than the virus;
Mnuchin's pandering for the corporate elite, including Boeing, which suffered so badly that it could offer its disgraced former CEO only a $60 million payout; and cruise lines, which license themselves in foreign countries to avoid U. S. taxes, but which line up for U. S. taxpayer bailouts -- worse than the disease;

The parade of corporate shills at the daily briefings, performing like trained seals so that they are not left out of the stimulus money that TrumPutin and Mnuchin are earmarking for their friends -- truly a scar on the nation and far worse than the disease;
Pompeo's idiotic talk of the Wuhan virus, carrying the xenophobic and nationalist ball for his lord and master -- despicably worse than the disease;

GOP reluctance to pay for sick leave and unemployment, until shamed into doing so, and Moscow Mitch's reluctance to have any oversight until forced to -- worse than the disease.

TrumPutin's hunch that the virus will be subdued, his hunch that we have plenty of ventilators, his hunch that the economy is more important than people's health -- all politically motivated responses worse than the disease;

The country will survive, recover, and thrive -- despite the lies, selfishness, and greed of the TrumPutin elite that currently governs.

Thank God for Speaker Pelosi and the good sense she shows in leading an intelligent response to the crisis.
